In 2007, the City approved the development of up to 165 affordable senior residential units and a one-acre park on this 5.8 acre site as part of the larger 17-acre Santa Clara Gardens project.
The Santa Clara Sustainable Residential Project proposes to construct the 165 affordable senior apartments contained in the approval noted above. Additionally, the project would construct up to 160 mixed-rate apartments and 34 townhouses. The previously approved open space would be increased to 1.5 acres and would include community gardens for the residents as well as an agricultural garden.
The City will a Notice of Preparation and Scoping Meeting in the near future for a Supplemental Environmental Impact Report (SEIR). This document will utilize the 2007 Santa Clara Gardens Project EIR and only contain information necessary to make the previous EIR adequate for the project as revised/proposed.
