- Introduction: A panel discussion on how art can contribute to the creation of identity and destination within Santa Clara.
The panel discussion will feature local artists and placemaking practitioners on the use of art to activate community space. The panel will include presentations and Q&A with Kathy Aoki, an artist and Chair of the Art Department at Santa Clara University, Kerry Adams-Hapner, Director of the Office of Cultural Affairs for the City of San Jose, and Marie Applegate, local artist and Santa Clara resident, focusing on the question of how art can contribute to “placemaking” by giving a place identity and make a place into an attractive destination within the community.
