The San Tomas & Monroe Park community garden opened up in late August, a little too late to grow the summer plants we all love: cucumbers, tomatoes, squash, chili peppers and corn. March 15th marks the last chance of frost in Santa Clara County and opens a new class of vegetables and fruit that can be grown. The City of Santa Clara's Garden Coordinator would like to invite you to help him plant new spring vegetables in the garden's teaching beds. He will be removing old plants, preparing the soil and planning spring/summer seeds and transplants. Come to help plant and learn about the spring/summer planting process. This event is open to all ages. Tools and adult sized gloves are available. Please come in closed-toed shoes and bring sun protection.
No pre-registration is needed for this free event. Questions? Visit SantaClaraCA.gov/communitygarden or call 408-615-3743.
