CASE OF THE WEEK - Federal Felony Warrant Arrest
On 12/28/17 at approximately 0500 hours, a Detective observed a vehicle traveling on Stevens Creek Boulevard without a front license plate. The officer immediately recognized the driver, Larry Santos. Santos has been arrested by SCPD on two prior occasions.
A Records check of Santos revealed one “No Bail Amount” Federal warrant, one $150,000 felony warrant and one misdemeanor warrant. The Detective lost sight of the vehicle and was unable to initiate a traffic enforcement stop.
On 1/2/18 at approximately 0900 hours, a Detective was in the area of Beechwood Avenue and Redwood Avenue in San Jose and observed Santos driving the same vehicle from 12/28/17. Two female subjects were with Santos, later identified as Lilla Perez and Monique Barcos.
The Detective initiated a high risk traffic enforcement stop. Santos activated his vehicle, began backing up and struck the front end of an unmarked police vehicle. The Detectives exited the police vehicle and detained the parties without further incident.
A search of Santos’ person yielded illegal drugs.
A Records check on Barcos revealed she had a suspended license. A Records check on Perez indicated she had a misdemeanor warrant. All three suspects were arrested.
A Records check of the vehicle identification number indicated it was reported stolen out of San Jose. A search of the vehicle yielded a stolen disabled persons placard.
