Don’t Fumble: Tackle Drunk Driving Before the Clock Starts

Post Date:02/04/2018 9:00 AM

Kick-off on America’s favorite pastime is just about ready to start. For many football fans, it doesn't matter who is playing, the Super Bowl is a great excuse for a party.

The Santa Clara Police Department is huddling up extra officers to patrol our community looking for impaired drivers. Don't drop the ball! Be sure to have a game plan for your ride home.

  • Public transportation
  • Taxi
  • Rideshare program (e.g. Uber, Lyft)
  • A sober friend of family member
  • Stay overnight at the party location (e.g. friends house, hotel)

In addition, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's SaferRide Mobile App, available in the app store, is another resource to help fans who have been drinking find a sober ride home—by identifying your location and helping to call a taxi or a friend to pick on your behalf.

This Super Bowl weekend, be a team player. If you observe an impaired driver, save a life. Report a drunk or drugged driver by calling 9-1-1.
