Police Explorer Academy
Thirty Police Explorers from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office, Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety and Santa Clara, Los Gatos, Marina, San Jose, Campbell and Morgan Hill Police Departments experienced their first day as members of Class 13 at the Explorer Academy.
The Explorer Academy is an introduction to life in a police academy. The high stress and discipline academy provides police-related courses, physical training and reinforces the concept of teamwork. The Academy also provides basic training for ancillary services at their respective agencies.
Officer Selberg is the Santa Clara Police Department's Explorer Academy Coordinator. Over the next three weeks, Officer Selberg will work alongside these future police officers and prepare them academically, mentally and physically for their career of choice.
The Explorer Academy was only made possible by our partnership with the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium and Training Officer Gomez. Logistical support was provided by the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office and Sergeant Leon.
Individuals ages 14-20 interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system can contact Officer Selberg about the Police Explorer program via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
