Chief’s Advisory Committee Comes Together for First Meeting
Members of the newly formed Chief’s Advisory Committee (CAC) met for the first time on October 15. The gathering included introductions, a review of the purpose of the CAC and expectations of its' members, a Department overview, review of a sample Police Department policy and housekeeping items.
The 15-member CAC will meet quarterly to advise Police Chief Sellers and Assistant Chief Winter on policies, strategies and priorities which influence or impact the ongoing relationship between the Santa Clara Police Department and the community it serves. The discussions will allow the Department to engage and collaborate with the community with the goal of increasing public safety, confidence, trust and quality of life for Santa Clara residents, business owners and visitors.
Examples of the types of items the Chief may bring to the CAC for input include:
- Provide feedback on a Crisis Response and Communication Plan
- Develop questions for an online Customer Satisfaction Form
- Offer insight on a potential Drone Deployment Policy
- Assist in the development of a Safer City Strategy
