Hero Workout in Honor of Sean M. Walsh
SCPD has planned a Hero Workout in honor of Sean M. Walsh today.
Specialist Sean Walsh was a Military Police (MP) Soldier in the California National Guard, serving in Operation Enduring Freedom, when he was killed in action in the Khost Province of Afghanistan on November 16, 2011.
Sean was an avid skateboarder and loved surfing. He enjoyed motorcycle riding and biking, and played baseball, football and soccer. He was a Bay Area sports enthusiast. Above all, Sean was focused on becoming a police officer. He served as an Explorer Cadet with the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Department and the Santa Clara Police Department. He joined the Army National Guard as an MP to gain additional experience towards his goal. After returning from deployment, Sean’s plans were to continue his education. He had hoped one day to join SCPD as a K-9 handler.
Since his passing, Sean's mother Cheryl Walsh, has been one of the biggest supporters of SCPD's K-9 program, and K-9 programs throughout the country. Cheryl has donated five K-9's to SCPD since Sean's untimely passing.
21 Minute AMRAP (As Many Rounds As Possible)
11 Wall Balls/Air Squats
16 Mountain Climbers
11 Kettlebell Swings
Cheryl was in attendance today to support SCPD and honor her son’s life and legacy. In addition, Sean's Commander in the United States Army led the soldiers Sean served with in the workout as well.
