Celebrate the Holidays in the Way that Feels Best for You

And, Remember Free Support is Available at Your Fingertips, 24/7 - Even on Holidays

Post Date:12/12/2018 1:00 PM

No two people celebrate the holidays in the same way. For many, the holidays mean hot cider, lavish decorations and fun celebrations. For others, the holidays are tied to painful memories. In turn, the traditional fanfare of the season may not feel appropriate.

If you’re grieving someone during the holidays, it’s okay to not be in the holiday spirit. If it’s a lonely time for you, don’t feel pressured to engage in big festive events. If returning home to a family situation puts you at risk physically or psychologically, skip the trip. Your emotional health should never come at the sacrifice of fulfilling obligations to other people. Instead, find a new way of celebrating that fits you and your needs.

The holidays can be stressful. Remember to take time for yourself, no matter what that looks like. If you need extra support, Crisis Counselors are available 24/7, even on holidays - reach out!

Here’s how it works:

  • Text HOME to 741741 from anywhere in the USA, anytime, about any type of crisis.
  • A live, trained Crisis Counselor receives the text and responds quickly.
  • The crisis counselor helps you move from a hot moment to a cool calm to stay safe and healthy using effective active listening and suggested referrals – all through text message using Crisis Text Line’s secure platform.
