Spring Forward - Safety Checklist for the Time Change

Post Date:03/12/2017 9:00 AM

Today, Daylight Savings Time begins for most of the United States.

Setting the clock forward means it's time for a seasonal safety check.

  1. Change the smoke detector and carbon monoxide batteries;
  2. Replace flashlight batteries;
  3. Check your home and car first-aid kit;
  4. Gather unwanted and expired over the counter or prescription medications for disposal. An appointment is required to drop off these items at the Police Building - call (408)615-4727;
  5. Be sure your cell phone has the Communications Center non-emergency phone number programmed in it - (408)615-5580.
  6. Review your family emergency plan;
  7. Update phone numbers, addresses and contact information, and post this information near your phone.

Attached are printable documents from Ready.gov to make it easy to develop a plan in case of emergencies.
