Public Safety Dispatch Lead of the Year
Kristen Moye has been a Public Safety Dispatcher for eight (8) years, and a Dispatch Lead for the past five (5) years. Kristen was selected by her peers and supervisors to receive the Dispatch Lead award based on her exemplary work and contributions to public safety for the residents of Santa Clara. She encourages people to be better, do better and give better, which is exactly what any dispatch center needs.
Kristen is a consummate team player. She serves as a shift supervisor and is responsible for training newly hired dispatchers. Her team describes her as “approachable and always willing to help out.” She is also a member of the Department’s Peer Support and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) teams because she understands the value of good health and well-being among her colleagues.
One example of Kristen's abilities took place on May 25, 2016, when she managed a 5-alarm fire. Kristen made numerous calls to allied agencies for mutual aid and handled all the Fire Department's radio traffic. Due to the magnitude of this fire, there were 3-alarm assignments that had to be made. Meanwhile, she continued to dispatch medical calls on the primary Fire radio channel.
