The Parks & Recreation Department has released an RFP for professional design, engineering and outreach services that will initiate a community discussion of options and development of a final schematic design for review and consideration by the Parks & Recreation Commission and City Council. An initial community input process held in early 2015 resulted in 3 conceptual design options, but no identified funding source. In October 2016, Council allocated funding in the amount of $3.1M for a Montague Park Rehabilitation Project to include the community building/restroom, basketball court, new perimeter pathway, replacement of the non-compliant playground, and refurbishment of the picnic area, and to explore a “place making” option to potentially re-arrange park features to address issues of access, parking, traffic and use of the grass meadow. The pathway safety lighting and tennis court resurfacing projects have been completed. SCUSD property is not part of the scope of the City project.
