| The Housing Rehabilitation Loan Committee
reviews applicant proposals from low to moderate income homeowners
for loans/grants for home improvements. The Committee consists
of four members: a City Councilmember and three residents. Housing
Rehabilitation Loan Committee members are volunteers and are
appointed by the City Council. To be eligible, you must be a
registered voter and resident of Santa Clara, and (with the
exception of the appointed Councilmember) may not hold any paid
office in, or be employed by, the City of Santa Clara. For details,

History
In 1980, two representatives from the community reviewed and
approved the loans. Staff and a representative from the lending
institution were also present. In 1982, a representative from
the Council began serving on the Committee. In 1995, term
limits of a maximum of two consecutive four-year terms were
established for the Committee. The Committee consists of four
members appointed by the City Council (one member is a Council
Member.)
