The multi-city animal control services Joint Power Agency, known as Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority (SVACA), assumed field and shelter service responsibility for the City of Santa Clara as well as Campbell, and Monte Sereno.

Animal service responsibilities are divided as follows:

  • Silicon Valley Animal Control Services (SVACA) - accepts stray and lost owned animals, provides animal adoptions, picks up stray dogs and cats, injured animals including wildlife, responds to complaints of dogs at large, investigates cruelty complaints, responds to reports of dead animals, investigates animal bites, and provides community education.   • Wildlife Services - The Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley provides rehabilitation of injured, sick and orphaned birds and mammals within Silicon Valley, and education on wildlife conservation issues to foster a positive coexistence between the general public and wildlife. More than 150 volunteers care for 5,500 birds and mammal from more than 100 species each year.
