Did you know that the Santa Clara Police Department only authorizes six cab companies to operate in the City of Santa Clara? Each licensed cab company is subject to a background investigation and annual taxi cab safety inspections, and must maintain a proper level of insurance. All taxi cab drivers must hold a valid taxi driver’s permit to operate a taxi in the City. Taxi drivers must demonstrate proficient knowledge of the local streets as well as traffic laws of the City and State. They must be able to safely operate a cab, and are subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Any cab company can drop you off in Santa Clara but only the following should be called for pick-up service:
