Smart Permit Information System

Welcome to the Permit Center
Welcome to the City of Santa Clara's Smart Permit Information System providing businesses and citizens with permit information online. You can now check the status of a permit online or get parcel information.

In the future, the City of Santa Clara will be expanding the capabilities of this website to include the following:

  • Comment on Use Permit, Variance, Zoning or Subdivision Applications (under initial testing);
  • Application and payment for permits.

Using Smart Permit Information System
(Parcel and Permit Status Available)
This web site allows you to look up permit or parcel information and receive a report on its current status. You can look up the desired permit by entering the case number (if you know it) or by entering the address of the project. Once you have entered the case number or address, click on the Search button and the permit information will appear on the next web page. Click on the Clear button if you want to clear the form and reenter the search information.

Permit information on this site is limited to information originated in the computer age. In the case of Building Permits since 1998 and in the case of Planning approvals since August 1999. Most building permits and all Planning Application information originating prior to that time remains in its original paper form. Parcel information is derived primarily from Metroscan data based on County of Santa Clara Assessor information. Archived building permits are being added to the permit database. The estimate is that all building permits will be available online by 2007.

Decide whether you want to look up information on a permit or a business license. Click on the appropriate link.
