Effective January 1, 2017 - New Santa Clara Minimum Wage

$11.10 Per Hour

On September 22, 2015, the Santa Clara City Council passed a Minimum Wage Ordinance that went into effect on January 1, 2016, raising the minimum wage from $9 per hour to $11 per hour. The Ordinance required employers to pay a minimum of $11.00 per hour to each employee who performs at least two (2) hours or more per week of work in Santa Clara. Beginning January 1, 2017, and each year thereafter, the minimum wage will increase corresponding to the prior year’s Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Santa Clara employers and employees doing business in Santa Clara are subject to the Minimum Wage Ordinance. For information, visit our FAQ page, email us at minimumwage@santaclaraca.gov  or contact us at 408-615-2210.

Prior to 2015, the City of Santa Clara followed the California State Minimum Wage Ordinance. For information on the minimum wage in Santa Clara prior to 2015, please visit the State of California Department of Industrial Relations website.
