The mission of the volunteer services program is to enhance programs and services by matching the varied talents of concerned individuals and groups of all ages, interests, and skills with a wide variety of interesting and challenging municipal projects. Santa Clara volunteers are placed according to their interests and skills, as well as the needs of the Police Department.

As volunteer opportunities come available they are listed in Volgistics. To be considered for a volunteer assignment, please complete a City of Santa Clara volunteer application.
Given the nature of law enforcement, there are a few additional items that I will need in order to consider your application, including:
- A copy of a current Driver's License;
- Proof of automobile insurance;
- A copy of any Police Report(s) in which you were a suspect or arrested, whether you were convicted or not. If you have not been arrested, please provide a signed statement to that effect;
- Five (5) references (e.g. family member, professor, colleague, supervisor, room-mate, friend, etc.) including name, address, telephone number, email address and how you know the individual;
- A copy of any certificates, awards or recognitions you would like considered with your application; and,
- A summary of your school requirements for potential interns.

The most qualified applicants will be provided a release form that allows the Department to conduct a background investigation. Individuals who pass this process may be invited to an interview. Not all applicants are placed into volunteer assignments
