| Education and Experience |
| Enrollment in or graduation
from an accredited three-year law school. Must have completed at least
one (1) year of the law curriculum and have successfully completed
a course in constitutional law. No experience is necessary. |

| Distinguishing Characteristics |
| This classification utilizes
law students or law school graduates to perform research and preliminary
work for the City's professional legal staff. Duties are commensurate
with the level of the incumbent's background. |

| Typical Duties |
| Under general supervision,
performs routine legal research; assists in the preliminary work of
preparing legal opinions; prepares drafts of resolutions and ordinances;
prepares drafts of legal documents, briefs and reports; prepares drafts
of petitions and complaints; and performs related work as required. |

| Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities |
| Working knowledge of: legal
principles, practices and methods of legal research. Good ability
to: analyze situations accurately; present statements of fact, law
and argument clearly and logically, orally and in writing; work cooperatively
with others. |
