| Education and Experience |
| Any combination equivalent
to completion of 60 semester units at an accredited college and two
years of responsible experience in community recreation. |

| License |
| Must possess an appropriate
California Operator's License issued by the State Department of Motor
Vehicles. |

| Distinguishing Characteristics |
| Incumbents in this classification
assist the professional recreation personnel in the management and
supervision of a section or related program within the Recreation
Activities Division. In supervising other as-needed employees and
assigned program volunteers, exercises independent Judgement and discretion
not of a routine or clerical nature. |

| Typical Duties |
| Under direction, organizes
and directs recreational activities and events: assists in the planning,
organization and implementation of a recreation program serving a
particular need; assists in recruiting, training, instructing and
supervising part-time and/or temporary recreation personnel and program
volunteers; participates in planning and directing special event programs
and seasonal schedules; may prepare reports, news releases and correspondence;
makes recommendations regarding equipment and supply needs; and does
related work as required. |

| Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities |
| Good ability to: demonstrate
working knowledge of the objectives, methods and techniques of a specific
type of recreation program; demonstrate working knowledge of community
recreational resources. Good ability to: direct the activities of
others; and work cooperatively with others. |

| Reports to Recreation Supervisor,
Center Director, or other supervisor as assigned. |

| Part-time temporary, and/or
volunteer recreation leadership personnel as assigned. May assist
in the training of new personnel. |

| Special Conditions |
| Will be required to work
unusual hours to meet the recreational needs of the general public. |
