Thank you for your interest in employment with the City of Santa Clara. The City is an equal opportunity employer and offers excellent benefits. Refer to our Job Opportunities page for a listing of current job openings. Please read the job announcement carefully to identify the required information (e.g., formal City application, resume) to submit prior to the filing date listed on the announcement. Please note the City of Santa Clara does not accept applications or resumes unless we are actively recruiting for a classification or job. Employment applications and job announcements are available by clicking on the links to the left or at City Hall, 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara or at the Santa Clara City Libraries. If you have any questions, please call the Human Resources Department at (408) 615-2080.
The Civil Service Rules and Regulations (PDF) provide policy direction on human resources issues based on merit and fitness. The Rules and Regulations were adopted by the Civil Service Commission and approved by City Council to assure appointments, promotions, and disciplinary actions are consistent and in the best interest of the City.
The Employer-Employee Relations Resolution (PDF) provides orderly procedures for the administration of employer-employee relations between the City management and the City's employee organizations and for resolving disputes regarding wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) entitles eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for specific family and medical reasons. City of Santa Clara employees must complete the FMLA Request Form (PDF) in advance of the need for FMLA leave or as soon as practicable; additional certification forms may be required.
