Customer Service
For sewer problems such as slow drainage, back-ups, bad smells, etc., call the City first, (weekdays 8am-5pm) at (408) 615-2000. After hours and weekends, call (408) 615-5640. Many times, the problem can be resolved without contacting a private plumber if the resident has a City Sewer Lateral Cleanout. There is no charge for a City response.
Installation Services & Fees

The City collects a one-time sewer connection fee. For information regarding new sewer laterals and mains, contact the City Engineering Department at (408) 615-3000.
A cleanout is a one-way access point, installed at the City's right-of-way, usually located a few feet behind the sidewalk. There is a one time installation charge of:
- $500 for installation on a 4 inch lateral
- $2,250 for installation on a lateral 6 inches or larger

Sewer lateral video inspection cost is $825.
