Adult Softball & Basketball Leagues
The Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Department organizes and administers numerous citywide municipal adult softball and basketball leagues and tournaments. Over 3,000 participants a year take part in various organized leagues throughout the City.
Adult Softball leagues run in two seasons (Spring/Summer and Fall). Games are played on the well-groomed Central Park and Mission College Complex facilities. These venues have served as the host site for numerous Amateur Softball Association Metro, Regional and Western competitive tournaments. A wide variety of leagues for all ability levels are offered for Men's and Co-Rec slowpitch leagues. Registration fees include two ASA registered umpires, balls, scorekeepers, playoffs, awards and daily field preparation. Games are scheduled Tuesday through Thursday at 6:45, 8:00 and 9:15 pm (subject to change).
Adult Basketball leagues run in two seasons (Fall/Winter and Spring). Men's leagues for novice to competitive level players are offered. Games are played Tuesday through Thursday for the Fall/Winter session and Tuesday and Thursday for the Spring session. Games are scheduled for 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 pm (subject to change). On March 25, 2014 the Santa Clara City Council established an Ad-hoc Council Committee for Additional Soccer Fields (Mahan, Gillmor and Kolstad) to work with relevant stakeholders. On May 12, 2014 the Ad Hoc Committee met and discussed needs with staff, stakeholders and community youth soccer groups. Due to traffic and difficult access to Youth Soccer Park on scheduled event days at Levi Stadium, Council asked staff to identify options on alternative fields/space(s) for accommodating permitted soccer use for practices and games. The Parks & Recreation Department is exploring alternate sites for community use.
