Volunteer Opportunities
After School Program
Volunteer opportunities are available at the Youth Activity Center during the school year, August thru May, to:
• assist in the homework room or computer lab
• set-up or clean-up for special activities
• assist in supervision of participants
• assist in the backpack storage area
Volunteers must be SCUSD high school students or be a Santa Clara resident in high school. Students need to have completed their freshman year in high school. Appointments for prospective volunteers are scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 4 pm, 4:15 pm, 4:30 pm, and 4:45 pm.
Children's Halloween Party
Volunteers help with activities during the party, as well as set up and clean up before and after the event. Applications are available about a month before the event and must be submitted to the Walter E. Schmidt Youth Activity Center (YAC).
Leader in Training Experience (LITE)
The summer LITE program is for 14-16 year olds who want to volunteer in the Santa Clara Parks and Recreation summer programs. LITE recruitment begins in the Spring. Application information is published in the Winter/Spring Santa Clara Parks and Recreation Activities Guide.
