Senior Advisory Commission
Welcome to the Santa Clara Senior Center!
Our goal is to help enhance the physical, emotional, and social well-being of adults 50 years and older.
Our center is the hub for lots of activities designed to meet the interests and needs of seniors of every age. Whether you're 50 and looking to get in shape, or 90 and hoping to meet new friends over a round of cards, we have something fun for you to do.
Unique to our center is a 3,000 sq. ft. fitness room with commercial-quality equipment and an indoor lap pool, warm water pool, and spa.
You can surf the Internet in our 13-station computer lab, construct a new home improvement project in the woodshop, or pick up a friendly game of pool in our billiards room.
Supportive services are available to promote independent living and health, such as care management, registered nurses in our Health & Wellness Program, Medicare/health insurance and legal assistance, and a nutritious meal program.
For information regarding services available at the senior center or through other city departments and community partners, please see the Senior Resource List or call 615-3181.
For information regarding basic needs for low income individuals (food, shelter, clothing, etc.) please see the Community Links brochure or call 408-615-3181.
For those who like to ramble without the hassles, our senior tour program, Adventures to Go, offers trips to destinations within the area and abroad.
In partnership with Adult Education, all kinds of classes are held at the center, such as ceramics, painting, crafts, dance, and much more.
Whether you want to hit the gym or curl up in a comfy chair with a good book, the Santa Clara Senior Center will provide something to spark your brain and get you moving. Come play with us!
Lunch Meet Program
Lunch Meet is held at the Santa Clara Senior Center on the third Thursday of selected months from 12:30 to 1:30 pm in Room 232. We feature a different topic each month. Speakers come from from City departments, community partners, other government agencies, and non profit organizations.
In California, every hour 16 people are newly diagnosed with cancer. Do you know what you would do if this happened to you, a family member, a friend?
Join us when a representative from the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life of Santa Clara teaches us how to fight back once a diagnosis is made as well as ways to reduce your risks. The presentation will highlight available support services, 24/7 hotline support, the Road to Recovery program, Look Good- Feel Better programs, online tools, and more. We’ll learn about the Relay for Life and an invitation to survivors to register for the Survivor Lap.
Whether you are a cancer survivor, a caregiver, or know someone with cancer and want to help, come learn about the services available through the American Cancer Society. Having cancer is hard…finding help shouldn’t be.
For more information, call the Senior Center at (408) 615-3170.
