Teen Center Workshops - FREE - (Open to Parents)
The Santa Clara Youth Commission is hosting a series of teen-friendly workshops, focusing on current teen issues and providing resources for their peers.  Experts in the field will share information and create a safe place for teens (and parents) to talk about difficult topics.  Workshops will be held from 6:30-7:30 pm, with a light dinner provided.  All workshops are held at the Teen Center.  For more information, please call (408) 615-3741 or click here to download a link to the upcoming workshop.

General Information
The Teen Center is open to 8th through 12th graders who live Santa Clara, attend a Santa Clara Unified School District High School, or have a grandparent living in Santa Clara and have a Resident Youth Card (PDF), which is required to participate in the after school program. Guests are welcomed, but a Guest Participation application (PDF) must be completed and returned to the Teen Center prior to attending; certain restrictions apply. The Teen Center is located in front of the Youth Activity Center on Cabrillo Avenue near San Tomas Expressway. The Teen Center offers a variety of activities and services to the teen community which include an after school program, recreation classes, Teen Breakaway (summer only) and special events.

Leader in Training Experience (LITE)

Have a positive impact in a child's life, influence them to make healthy choices and contribute to Santa Clara's quality of life...be a part of the Leader In Training Experience (LITE)!

The City of Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Department is recruiting 14-16 year olds to volunteer in our summer program. LITES will gain valuable leadership skills, build self-esteem, and develop essential tools to help them become well-rounded individuals. Responsibilities will be to assist staff members in leading games, sports, arts and crafts, nature activities, and provide assistance on field trips.

LITES will be required to make a two-week commitment between June 16 and August 8. In addition, LITES must attend an in-service training from approximately 10:00 am - 4:00 pm, June 9-13. 

Applications available onlline, at the Teen Center, Walter E. Schmidt Youth Activity Center (YAC), Community Recreation Center (CRC), and Santa Clara Libraries. Submit applications to the Santa Clara Teen Center, 2446 Cabrillo Avenue, Santa Clara. Applications are due Wednesday, April 23 at 5:00 PM.
