Field Services Division
Mission
To serve our clients and the community through effective and efficient construction inspection, materials testing, surveying and administration services for public improvement projects.
The Field Services Division performs the following:
- Inspects:
- work performed by public works contractors
- work authorized under the City's Encroachment Permit (EP) Program
- construction materials for public works projects

- Provides surveying for planning and design of public works improvements and construction control for projects
- Is responsible for handling questions and complaints about construction in the public right-of-way
- Manages soil contamination clean-up on City-owned property
Division Highlights
- Provide effective construction inspection, materials testing, surveying and administration services for Capital Improvement Projects, such as the Northside Branch Library Project, Substandard Streets Improvements Projects, extension to the creek trails, and various recycled water projects.
- Provide effective construction inspection, materials testing, surveying, and administration services for private development that involves the City's infrastructure, such as the Bay Area Research Extension Center (BAREC) site development, and construction on the former Kaiser Hospital site.
