SANTA CLARA, Calif. – December 12, 2013 – Santa Clara’s Silicon Valley Power has scored the highest business customer satisfaction ratings since the start of California utility customer satisfaction surveys by an independent New York research firm.
In the 2013 study by RKS Research, SVP averaged a 9.0 overall rating on a scale of 0-10, with customer confidence in high reliability, low prices and customer service placing Santa Clara’s municipal electric utility scores well above the statewide average score of other utilities.
“We believe SVP’s 2013 performance is the best we have seen since we started doing California statewide surveys among business customers of municipal utilities in 1995,” said David Reichman of RKS Research, which conducts customer surveys on behalf of individual utilities, the California Municipal Utilities Association, and utility organizations nationwide.
The survey results stated: “Santa Clara business customers are substantially more satisfied…with nearly nine-in-ten awarding their utility top-3 satisfaction scores of 8, 9 or 10.”
The survey showed::
- Commercial customers ranked SVP higher than any other utility in the state for power reliability
- 87% of SVP customers scored SVP as an 8, 9, or 10 for overall satisfaction, compared to a statewide average of 71% of municipal utility business customers in California responding with those scores about their utility
- SVP customer service received an average rating of 8.6 out of 10, up from 8.0 in the previous survey, and in sharp contrast to declining average customer service ratings for California’s municipal and investor owned utilities.
“These results show that large and small business customers are very pleased with our efforts to provide reliable power at a low cost,” said John Roukema, SVP Director. “It’s a huge tribute to all of our employees that they are recognized as the best in the business.”
