Fire Department Implements PulsePoint Citizen Responder CPR/AED Mobile App
Posted Date: 6/12/2014
PulsepointThe Santa Clara Fire Department, in partnership with the Santa Clara County Fire Chief’s Association and El Camino Hospital, has implemented the life-saving PulsePoint Citizen Responder CPR/AED Mobile App.

PulsePoint notifies CPR-trained citizens of the critical need for CPR nearby via their smart phone, or mobile device. The app also directs these citizen rescuers to the exact location of the closest publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Due to the time critical nature of cardiac arrest, the intervention of bystander CPR has been shown to be between double and triple the survival rate from cardiac arrest. These citizen notifications are only made if the cardiac arrest victim is in a public place and only to potential rescuers that are in the immediate vicinity of the emergency.
