The San Francisco 49ers organization spent a weekend in late March in the snowy slopes of Olympic Valley, CA, where they joined former Olympians and other celebrities to bring in over $2 million for the San Francisco 49ers Foundation at the 13th Annual Winter Fest. This year’s total marks the highest in the event’s existence. The exclusive, weekend-long event, co-presented by Chevron and Thomson Reuters, celebrated football, family, philanthropy, and food and wine, while supporting at-risk youth in the Bay Area through the 49ers Foundation and highlighted beneficiary, Center for Youth Wellness.
“Winter Fest has grown over the last 13 years, increasing in sheer numbers as well as the fundraising success,” said 49ers team owner John York. “It’s wonderful to watch how positively the guests respond to the unique nature of this family-inclusive event, as children and their parents enjoy spending time together while also supporting a great philanthropic cause. Our coaches, players, alumni and sponsors all have one objective – to support the 49ers Foundation’s mission of keeping kids ‘Safe, On Track, and In School.”
San Francisco 49ers Owner John York, CEO Jed York and wife Danielle York, Co-Owners Jenna York and Mara York, President Gideon Yu, COO Paraag Marathe, and CFO Cipora Herman joined General Manager Trent Baalke, head coach Jim Harbaugh, defensive line coach Jim Tomsula, quarterbacks coach Geep Chryst, tight ends coach Reggie Davis, running backs coach and 49ers alumnus, Tom Rathman, offensive line coach Tim Drevno, assistant secondary coach Greg Jackson, and linebackers coach Jim Leavitt at the three-day event. Also in attendance were current 49ers players Anthony Dixon, Mike Iupati, Brian Jennings, Bruce Miller, Aldon Smith, and Scott Tolzien. 49ers alumni were well represented with Dwight Clark, Eric Wright, Dennis Brown, Greg Clark, Guy McIntyre, JJ Stokes, Steve Bono and Keena Turner. They were all joined by former NHL player, Olympian and current San Jose Sharks sideline reporter Bret Hedican and Olympians Kristi Yamaguchi, Tracy Sachtjen, and Ryan St. Onge, as well as 49ers Foundation Board members, sponsors and donors.
The exclusive weekend featured a Chalk Talk presented by the 49ers coaching staff and players, leisure skiing with Olympians, ice skating and story time with Kristi Yamaguchi, broomball with Bret Hedican, and an Alumni Fireside Chat. In addition, those in attendance participated in a yoga class taught by 49ers long snapper Brian Jennings, Football 101 for Kids taught by coaches Tomsula and Davis along with players Dixon, Iupati, Jennings, and Miller, a Bob Foley wine blending seminar, cupcake tasting, curling and snow olympics. The evening events were emceed by Comcast SportsNet Bay Area’s Dave Feldman, and 49ers alumnus and Comcast’s Dennis Brown, and included silent and live auctions auctioneered by Chad Carvey – the Principal Auctioneer, and entertainment from juggler Mike Price and popular cover band Tainted Love.
The event also showcased some of the finest wineries from Napa and Sonoma Counties. Amuse Bouche, Bespoke Collection, Buccella, Chappellet, David Family Wines, Eric Kent Wine Cellars, Gabrielle Collection, Joseph Phelps Vineyards, Kapcsándy Family Winery, Kosta Browne Winery, Merry Edwards Winery, Mi Sueño Winery, Pahlmeyer, Papapietro Perry Winery, Pride Mountain Vineyards, Robert Foley Vineyards, Round Pond Estate, Schramsberg, Spring Mountain Vineyard, Stephens Family Wines, Switchback Ridge, Terra Valentine, Tom Scott Vineyard, Tusk Estate, and Williams Selyem Winery all poured at the wine tastings and receptions, which took place Friday and Saturday evenings.
The San Francisco 49ers Foundation is the non-profit community funding extension of the San Francisco 49ers. Now in its 21st year, the 49ers Foundation supports development programs for underserved youth that keep them, “Safe, On Track, and In School.” Since its inception, the Foundation has donated over $20 million to support non-profits, including $2.9 million in 2012.

) is an initiative to build a one-stop health and wellness center for urban children and families in San Francisco, combining pediatrics with mental health services, educational support, family support, and research all under one roof. CYW identifies and addresses the impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences by providing evidence-based multidisciplinary care, education, and advocacy in a community-based, family-centered, model. Their work is based on emerging data on how exposure to poverty, domestic and community violence and other early life stressors affects the developing minds and bodies of children. They take an innovative approach to address the root causes of poor outcomes for children and youth in high risk communities
