Water Pollution Control Plant Master Plan Community Advisory Group & Community Workshop Meetings
Posted Date: 3/5/2010
The San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant (Plant) Master Plan was launched to prepare for the Plant's future challenges and opportunities. The Plant Master Plan will chart the course for the next 30 years to ensure the Plant’s success in protecting public health and the environment and in supporting the region’s economy. The cost of rebuilding the Plant is estimated at a minimum of $1.5 billion, making it one of the region’s largest public investments. How to best rebuild the Plant and best use its property is the focus of the Plant Master Plan.

The Community Advisory Group (CAG) consists of appointed community members charged with providing a community perspective on the three-year Plant Master Plan development. CAG meetings are a conduit for community input during the planning process and serve as a means for input by the residents and businesses in the Plant's eight-city service area.

CAG meetings are open to the public and of specific interest to residents of the Plant service area – San José, Santa Clara, Milpitas, Cupertino, Campbell, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, and Saratoga. Opportunity for public comments is included in the agendas. For those interested in attending, the next CAG meeting will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at 6 p.m. in the Santa Clara City Council Chambers at 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa Clara, CA 95050.

In addition, a Plant Master Plan Community Workshop is also scheduled to be held at Santa Clara’s Central Park Library in the Redwood Room on the evening of May 4th, 2010. The workshop will feature presentations and displays to help educate the public about the wastewater treatment plant and adjacent Plant lands.

Workshop attendees will also be able to provide input for specific land use elements and receive clarification regarding the Plant’s projected $1.5 billion in infrastructure improvements.

Comprehensive information and agendas for meetings will be made available at http://www.piersystem.com/go/site/1823/.
