City's Home Investment Partnerships Act (HOME) Program Ranked 1 st in California
by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
 

Santa Clara, Calif. – November 3, 2005 – The City of Santa Clara has sustained its high ranking by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in administering the Home Investment Partnerships Act (HOME) Program since last reported to Council in November 2003. The quarterly HOME Program Performance Snapshot, as of June 30, 2005, indicates the City ranked first out of all 86 participating jurisdictions in California and third (99th percentile) in the national ranking for all 515 participating jurisdictions. The Program Performance Snapshot covers all reported activities from the inception of the HOME Program in 1992 through June 30,2005.

The City of Santa Clara's HOME Program excelled in three categories: the commitment of funds, leveraging HOME dollars for rental activities, and targeting it's HOME assisted rental units to extremely low-income households. The HOME Program provides formula grants that communities use—often in partnership with local nonprofit groups—to fund a wide range of activities that build, buy, and/or rehabilitate affordable housing for rent or homeownership, or provide direct rental assistance to low-income people.
