Silicon Valley Power to Grant First-Time Energy Innovator Awards

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – January 23, 2008 – Mark your calendars. Friday, March 14, 2008, is the deadline to apply for Silicon Valley Power’s first-time Energy Innovator Awards Program, honoring both large and small organizations for their support of energy efficiency and renewable energy. Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is the City of Santa Clara’s municipal electric utility.

The Energy Innovator Awards program, open to any business, academic, governmental and non-profit organization located in the City of Santa Clara, offers six awards, three to companies and organizations with 100 or fewer employees and three to companies and organizations with more than 100 employees. To be considered for a 2007 Energy Innovator Award, efforts must have taken place in 2007.

The awards target three categories: Environmental Innovator, which rewards organizations for all-around efforts to support energy efficiency and renewable energy; Energy Efficiency Partner, honoring organizations for outstanding implementation of energy efficiency programs and application of SVP rebates; and Green Power Champion, recognizing organizations for innovative and successful green power purchases and the implementation of other renewable energy programs.

Winners will be announced in May 2008 and presented with their awards at the Silicon Valley Leadership Group Energy Forum on Friday, June 6, 2008.
