Santa Clara, Calif. – October 24, 2005 – Santa Clara Police responded to a suspicious set of circumstances that involved a subject impersonating a Santa Clara City Water Official. The suspect is described as a white adult male possibly Italian or Latin Descent, in his 30's, 5'8", weighing 200 Lbs., clean-shaven with short black hair. A male subject, posing as a water utility employee for the city, entered two separate residences of seniors. After gaining the resident's trust, the subject would check interior and exterior faucets of the residence. On both occasions the subject would remain at the residence at least 30 minutes, but no more than one hour. It is unclear if any theft occurred because the residents are uncertain. The police department wants to caution residents and have them remain vigilant in preventing subjects' access to their home. Residents should ask for a city identification card and/or call 911 if the subject is unable to produce a card or is acting suspiciously. The police department is asking for the public's help in identifying this subject. Anyone having information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Sgt. Craig Middlekauff at (408) 615-4814.
