Santa Clara, Calif. – January 10, 2006– During Public Safety Providers' Week 2006, February 5-11, employees and volunteers from the City's Fire and Police Departments will be recognized for the vital services that they provide every day to the citizens of Santa Clara.
At the February 7th City Council meeting, proclamations will be issued in appreciation of all City public safety providers, and special recognition will be given to individuals for their exceptional lifesaving efforts.
CPR Can Save a Life
In keeping with the Valentine Week heart theme, during Public Safety Providers' Week the Santa Clara Fire Department is offering a CPR class to the public on Saturday, February 11. The class is free, but space is limited. The class begins at 9 a.m. and concludes at 1 p.m., with a 15-minute break (students may bring a snack, if they like). Training will include CPR training for adult, and choking maneuvers. Class graduates will receive an American Heart Association “Heartsaver Participation” card. Participants must be a minimum of 16 years of age, City residents or members of a Santa Clara business. Class size limited to 12 adults and a minimum of 6 students are needed for the class to take place. Call 615-4900 for information or to register. Registration deadline is Wednesday, February 8, 2006.
9-1-1, Tour Your Dispatch Center
You can tour the Santa Clara Dispatch Center, where City personnel provide the vital link between citizens and police, fire, or medical emergency response. The City of Santa Clara's Public Safety Communications Center will be open for tours on Thursday, February 9, 2006 (1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.) and Friday, February 10, 2006 (9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon).
