On Sunday, March 16, 2008, three separate Santa Clara University students reported thefts from their residences. The thefts occurred early Saturday morning and again Saturday night between 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. in the 800 block of Bellomy Street and Panelli Place. The victims reported laptop computers, Apple IPOD’s and credit cards missing.

One theft occurred during a house party on Panelli Place. SCU students, Thomas Hendrickson and William Gorin, attended the party and stole electronic devices from inside an unlocked bedroom. They were able to avoid detection by partygoers.

A few hours later, Gorin and Hendrickson found an apartment on Bellomy Street with the interior lights off. The victims were inside their apartment sleeping. Gorin and Hendrickson tried to open the front door, but it was locked. They searched the immediate area and found a key under the doormat. Both Gorin and Hendrickson entered the apartment and quietly removed the victim’s property while they were sleeping.

On Monday, March 17, 2008, Detective Sgt. Hoesing and Detective Tanquary were notified that a victim located several of their stolen items on Craigslist. Sgt. Hoesing posed as a potential buyer and the seller agreed to meet him at a prearranged location. At approximately 5:30 p.m., the detectives arrested Thomas Hendrickson for possession of stolen property.

After a thorough investigation, William Gorin was also identified as being involved with the thefts. All of the victims’ property was recovered and returned. Thomas Hendrickson and William Gorin were booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for 459 PC Burglary and 496 PC Possession of Stolen Property.
