Creek TrailThe first two segments (Reach 1 & Reach 2) of the Creek Trail are open and provide a walking, running, and bicycling trail extending south from the San Francisco Bay Trail to Scott Boulevard. A City-maintained public parking lot at the Santa Clara Golf & Tennis Club, 5155 Stars & Stripes Drive, provides free parking and good trail access. This parking lot is located just south of the tennis courts, north of Tasman Drive, and east of the San Tomas Aquino/Saratoga Creek Trail. The parking lot is shown by a red "P" on the Creek Trail Map and Legend linked below.

  • Reach 1 (Bay Trail to Agnew Road) - 1.76 miles (trail section complete and open)
  • Reach 2 (Agnew Road to Scott Blvd.) - 0.84 miles (trail section complete and open)
  • Reach 3 (Scott Blvd. to Monroe Staging Area) - 1.25 miles (section under construction)
  • Reach 4 (Monroe Staging Area to Pruneridge Ave.) - 4 miles (0.2 mile of creek trail section not yet constructed + 3.8 miles of bike lanes and routes that currently exist)

Reach 1 of the Creek Trail extends south from the San Francisco Bay Trail to Agnew Road. In Reach 1, undercrossings are provided at Highway 237, Old Mountain View-Alviso Road, Great America Parkway, and Tasman Drive in order to provide a continuous trail without users crossing busy streets.

Reach 2 of the Creek Trail extends south from Agnew Road to Scott Boulevard. This segment with undercrossings at Mission College Boulevard, State Highway 101 and Scott Boulevard was opened for public use in May 2006.

A contract has been awarded and construction has begun for the third segment (Reach 3) of the Creek Trail, from Scott Boulevard to Monroe Street, a section that is approximately 1.25 miles in length along the west bank of San Tomas Aquino Creek. Undercrossings will be constructed at Central Expressway, Walsh Avenue, and the Caltrain railroad tracks. Like the other portions of the trail, this section will be asphalt paved, have signing and striping, directional and interpretive signs, retaining walls with art panels, drainage systems, fencing and railings. When completed, this section of the Creek Trail will extend to a staging area (parking facility) at the corner of Monroe Street and San Tomas Expressway.

It is noted that all undercrossings may be subject to periodic closures during the rainy seasons when they are inundated by the water levels in the creek.
