A 6 acre park, Warburton Park was named in honor of Austen Warburton in 1962. Mr. Warburton was a descendent of a pioneer California family, and lived his entire life -- November, 1917 to May, 1995 -- in Santa Clara. He was a beloved civic leader, serving as a City Planning Commissioner, City Council Member and a Regent of Santa Clara University, and was known as "Mr. Santa Clara". Warburton Park also contains the Warburton Swim Center, picnic areas, open space, restrooms, a playground and basketball courts. The swim center offers recreational swim and lessons during the summer. Refer to the Recreation Activities Guide for aquatics information.
