| The mission of the Planning and Inspection
Department is to plan for and review the development and maintenance
of the privately owned, physical environment of the city. The
Planning and Building Divisions have been actively involved
in implementing a new Smart Permit software created by Tidemark
Systems. The City has been testing the software system in house,
and hopes to have "live applications" ready soon to
better serve our many permit customers. Simple permit forms
are downloadable from the City's website in the Permit
Center & Licenses under the Community section. |

| Planning Division |
| The Planning Division makes recommendations
to maintain the Santa Clara General Plan as current City policy.
The Division serves the Planning Commission and City Council
in the administration of land use regulations and preparation
of reports on development issues. Zoning regulations are enforced
through Code Enforcement |

| Building Inspection Division |
| The Inspection Services Division
administers City and State Regulations for the design, construction,
quality of materials, use and maintenance of all buildings in
Santa Clara. |

| Housing & Community Services
Division |
| The Housing & Community Services
Division administers State and Federal grants to the City of
Santa Clara and the Redevelopment Agency Affordable Housing
Fund. Community Development Block Grants are used to promote
affordable housing, rehabilitate substandard housing, build
new park facilities, provide neighborhood improvements, remove
barriers to the handicapped and fund public services for low
and moderate income residents. These services are provided through
non-profit, delegate agencies under third party contracts with
the City. The Redevelopment Agency Affordable Housing Fund is
used to create and retain affordable housing in the City for
very-low to moderate income households. |
