Q. How can I increase the amount of garbage cans I can put out?
A. To increase service, call Mission Trail at 727-5365 or you
may purchase garbage stickers for $2.50 each bag at City Hall.
Q. Does the City offer electronic (automatic) utility payment?
A. Not at this time. This feature is being investigated for
possible future use.
Q. Do you accept credit card payments for utility services?
A. Yes. Credit and debit cards can be used to pay utility bills
or to make other payments in the City. Credit cards can be used
in person or by telephone, but debit cards may only be used
in person. Credit cards which may be used include VISA, MasterCard,
American Express, and the Discover card.
Q. Where do I go to upgrade my commercial electric service?
A. Start with the City's Permit Center. Their telephone number
is 615-2420.
Q. Why do I get two utility bills, one from the City of Santa
Clara and one from PG&E?
A. The City of Santa Clara provides most utility services, including
electricity. PG&E provides the gas, and SBC provides the
telephone services.
Q. Something is wrong with my electric heater. Could you send
someone to fix it?
A. The City of Santa Clara Electric Department only services
up to the electric meter outside your home or business. You
need to call an electrician or repairman for electric repairs
inside

Q My sewer line is backed up. Can you send someone out?
A. Call the Water/Sewer Department at 615-2000 (8am-5pm weekdays)
or 615-5640 (after hours and weekends).
Q. Does the City have low income or senior rates?
A. The City residential water and sewer rates are the lowest
in the Bay Area. Therefore, the City does not have a low income
rate for these services at this time. For information about
the possibility of obtaining a low income garbage rate, call
615-2063. The municipal Electric Utility, Silicon Valley Power,
has a Rate Assistance Program (RAP) for City of Santa Clara
utility bills. RAP provides a 25% discount off the electric
portion of the Municipal Utilities bill to qualified Santa Clara
residents of certain income levels. See the information found

Q. How long does it take to have the utilities turned on or
turned off after I place an order?
A. Generally it takes one full work day.
Q. Where can I pay my electric bill?

Mail your bill to City Hall, 1500 Warburton Avenue, Santa
Clara, CA 95050,
Use the drop-off box outside (picked up once a day at 8 a.m.),
or
Visit City Hall, West Wing, and see a customer service representative
at the Municipal Service Counter
Q. Can I pay my PG&E gas bill or my telephone bill at
City Hall?
A. Only City of Santa Clara bills can be processed at City
Hall.
Q. Can I change my garbage service to another company?
A. No, Mission Trail is the only company contracted to provide
garbage service in the City of Santa Clara.
