Bicycle Advisory Committee

The Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) was established by the Santa Clara City Council on May 28, 1991.

The purpose of the BAC is to serve as an advisory body to the City Council on matters relative to modifying or expanding the City's recreational and commuter bikeway system. Its intent shall be to encourage recreational and commuter bicycling by promoting safe, convenient, well-designed facilities, and by evaluating local bicycle related projects.

BAC meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday in January, March, June, August and October at 4:00 p.m. at City Hall.

Road Conditions and Complaints
Road condition problems can usually be corrected if they are reported to the appropriate agency. This is particularly true of repairs such as potholes, drain grates, signal timing, visibility obstructions and street sweeping. Caltrans is responsible for the State Highways including El Camino Real. The County is responsible for maintaining the expressways and unincorporated rural areas. Within the urban areas of Santa Clara County, the cities have responsibility for maintaining facilities for motorists and bicyclists. You can call your local Public Works Department, or send an e-mail message using the "Send A Message" button at the top of this screen, stating the exact location and nature of the problem.

Reports of street or road conditions can be directed by telephone to the following:

Caltrans (El Camino Real & Freeway System) (408) 436-0930
(510) 286-5598
City of San Jose (408) 277-4373
