| How to Set Materials Out |
| |
- Materials for the Clean-Up Campaign should be placed in the gutter in front of your house before 7:00 am on the Monday of the designated collection week, but not prior to the Saturday before collection. See the Santa Clara Map in the City Calendar (or call 615-3080) for set-out times and areas.
- If you live in a Multi-Family home, please contact your
property manager or Homeowner's Association for the proper
way and place to set materials out.
- Televisions, computer monitors, refrigerators, freezers,
air conditioners, washers, dryers, and tires must be separated
from other materials. These items will be recycled. Please
remove any doors with latch mechanisms to prevent accidents.
- Brush, branches, and wood should be cut to 6-foot lengths
or less, stacked separately and placed parallel to the curb
in order to be picked up and recycled. Brush and branches
can be set out weekly in your Clean Green cart. Do NOT trim
or remove City street trees.
- Keep materials set out for the Clean-Up Campaign at least
3 feet away from any obstructions, red-painted curbs, fire
hydrants, fences, poles, cars, landscaping, or walls.
- Please do NOT block sidewalks, or let your materials obstruct
or impede traffic.
- ONLY set out materials in front of your own house. Do
NOT set materials in front of a neighbor's home, or in an
alley or private street. This will be construed as illegal
dumping.
- Violation notices will be left at homes where
materials have been improperly set out.
- Only one cubic yard of dirt, concrete, sod, and/or asphalt
will be collected at no charge. NO contractor-generated
materials will be collected (see Items NOT Accepted). A
fee of $25 per cubic yard
will be charged over the first cubic yard of acceptable
materials. Click here for information on how to dispose
of excess materials.
- Setting your materials out prior to your scheduled time (see the Santa Clara Map in City Calendar or call 615-3080) is subject to a $100 fine.
- Setting out hazardous materials is subject to a $500
fine (see Items NOT
Accepted on how to dispose of hazardous materials).
Do NOT trim or remove City street trees. This is a violation
of City Code 12.35.020 and is subject to a $1,000
fine.
