City Water Demand 2022 line chart
Since 1987, water use has dropped significantly while the City's population continues to rise; clearly, conservation has become a way of life in Santa Clara. The graph shows the City's conservation despite the population increase.

In addition to reduced water use, Santa Clara's award-winning Recycled Water Program directly offsets potable water demand, controlling water demand and following through with the City's conservation goals.

City of Santa Clara Recycled Water

Central Park Pond featuring recycled water

  • Directly offsets potable water demand
  • Accounts for 17% of all water sales
  • Meets 72% of municipal water use
  • Fills the iconic 1.4 million gallon Central Park Pond when in use

Regardless of our significant progress, the reality of returning drought conditions require all of us to make water conservation a way of life.
