Forced Emigration -- Scottish Genealogy Research

From about 1620-1890 “The Clearances” in Scotland created a steady emigration of Scots and Scots-Irish to America, the Caribbean and Australia.  Finding where they lived and studying their journey not only from Scotland but from other countries can be a challenge. This talk will give hints about how to research and where to look for patterns of where ancestors and their records may be. These patterns can be used for researching any ancestor.

Gail Chaid will teach this class.  Gail grew up in Ventura, CA. Gail is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo earning a BS, Masters and numerous life teaching credentials. She has researched her maternal family history in Bulgaria. She has also traveled to Scotland to research her family history for a month each time in 2015 and 2017.
