About the Speaker:

Andrea Melnychenko is a plant biologist who has been working in the horticultural field for the last 18 years. As an Account Manager for the Turf, Nursery and Ornamental divisions of Cool Planet on the West Coast, Andrea's work focuses on exploring new markets and innovative applications for biochar with a broad range of users in the green industry. Andrea's past years of experience from working at garden centers, along with her personal love of ornamental plants, informs her current work with soil blenders, landscape architects, growers and gardeners. She holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Plant Physiology from Portland State University where her research focused on urban greening and plant/atmosphere interactions. Andrea's work with Cool Planet makes use of her academic knowledge and horticultural expertise to introduce ways that new technologies, like biochar, can improve plant quality and performance in both nurseries and cities.
