Swimming
The Aquatics Program offers a variety of swim lessons for all ages and abilities, aquatic fitness programming, lap swim for adults and teens and works with local partner organizations to coordinate shared use of aquatic facilities.

In order to participate in our lap swim program, you must have a valid Santa Clara Senior Center Premium Membership or Activity Pass.
Senior Membership: City of Santa Clara resident age 50+
- To obtain this membership you must live in the City of Santa Clara and be at least 50 years old.
- If you need to renew or apply for a resident Senior Lap Swim Membership (Senior Center Card) contact Community Recreation Center at PRCustomerServe@SantaClaraCA.gov. A photo ID and two forms of proof of residency that include a City of Santa Clara address (i.e. utility bill, car registration, etc.) are required to renew or request this membership.
Activity Pass
- If you have a pass but need to reload, go online to the registration system, choose “Memberships” from the top of the screen and follow the prompts.
- For a new membership go online to the registration system and create an account. Purchase the pass, then email a photo of yourself to PRCustomerServe@SantaClaraCA.gov. Once the photo is received staff will print a membership card for you to pick-up at the Community Recreation Center.
- Activity Passes require a new card. Old Lap Swim cards expire after last use.
If you are having problems creating an account or purchasing a pass, contact the Community Recreation Center by calling 408-615-3140, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., or send an email to: PRCustomerServe@santaclaraca.gov.
Emailing List
If you would like to be notified of upcoming aquatic closures and program updates, send an email to SantaClaraAquatics@santaclaraca.gov. You must have a valid activity pass or a senior center membership in order to be added to the list.
Health & Safety Protocols
- There is no time restriction on swimming.
- No lane reservations.
- Swimmers will enter lanes appropriate to their swim speed/level.
- Swimmers are required to "circle swim" when there are two or more participants in the lane.
- Must be 13+ to participate in lap swim.
- Swimmers between the ages of 13-17 must be accompanied by someone who is 18+.
- Swimming lessons are not allowed during lap swim.
- Kickboards, pull buoys, swim paddles, and training swim fins (except for snorkeling/scuba fins) are allowed to use during lap swim.

General Information
- Children ages 10 and under must be directly supervised by a person at least 18 years of age. All individuals entering the pool, whether swimming or not, will be required to pay.
- Flotation devices are not allowed except for coast guard approved lifejackets that have been inspected by City lifeguards.
- Coast Guard approved lifejackets are available for free upon request.
- Pool sites do not allow any type of pool toys or pool inflatables.
- Pool sites will only accept credit and debit cards, youth resident passes, senior center premium passes, season passes and family passes for Recreation Swim. Pool sites do accept Apple Pay and other forms of electronic payments. Pool sites will not accept cash.
- Groups of 12 or more must make reservations at least 48 hours in advance. Contact AHatch@SantaClaraCA.gov to reserve.

American Red Cross Lifeguarding Course
The City of Santa Clara is currently offering classes for participants who want to become a certified lifeguard or need to renew their lifeguard certificate.
Participants must be at least 15 years old to register for the course.
Registration for classes may be done online, in person at the Community Recreation Center, or by calling 408-615-3140.
