MenuFile an Online Police Report
Welcome to the Santa Clara Police Department’s Online Police Reporting Service.
This tool is meant to provide a quick and convenient way to submit a police report 24/7, 365 without waiting for an available police officer.
If you are reporting a stolen vehicle or stolen license plate, it must be done by calling (408)615-5580.
To use the Online Police Reporting tool, all of the following criteria must be met:
- An incident that is not an emergency
- An incident occurred within the City of Santa Clara
- The reporting party is at least 18 years old
- No one was injured as a result of this incident
- There are no known suspects
- The incident did not occur on the state highway
- There were no firearms involved in the incident
- The reporting party has an email address
If your incident meets all of above criteria, click here to file an Online Police Report.
If your situation does not meet all of the above criteria, or it is your preference to speak with a police officer, contact Public Safety Dispatchers 24/7, 365 via the non-emergency phone line (408)615-5580. In an emergency, dial 9-1-1.
Once you have submitted information via the Online Police Reporting Service:
- You will immediately receive a temporary report number
- All incidents reported online are reviewed on a daily basis (except weekends and holidays)
- Once the report has been reviewed and approved, you will be emailed a Santa Clara Police Department police report number
- If further information is needed from the reporting party, a Community Service Officer or Detective will reach out by telephone, email or through the online reporting system portal
- Supplemental documents (e.g. photos, video, supplemental reports) connected with the reported incident can be included with the initial submission. If, however, you would like to include additional information after your initial submission, please contact SCPD at (408)615-4700 with the police report number for instructions; do not start a secondary report.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Filing a false police report is a crime. Anyone filing a false police report may be prosecuted under California Penal Code section 148.5 PC. Filing a false police report is punishable by imprisonment in county jail not exceeding 6 months, or by fine not exceeding $1,000, or by both.
