Most City Hall offices, including the Permit Center, will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024, as well as Friday 29, 2024 in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. Walk-ins are also welcome, though wait times may vary. Virtual and in-person appointments are available for over-the-counter services. Building Services provides inspections after a building permit has been issued for building construction to ensure compliance with approved plans. Inspection services are provided for new residential, commercial and industrial buildings, as well as building additions, remodels, repairs and changes in use. |

Planning Service includes providing public information (e.g., Zoning Code requirements for new development, information about pending applications for new projects) and processing of Planning permit applications. We can provide these services remotely, including submittal of new applications for planning permits. Please contact us for more information. |

The Department of Public Works manages the City’s Street Encroachment Permit Program, reviews/approves Public Improvement Plans, Subdivision Maps, and Title Documents, provides feedback to Planning Services on requirements on new entitlements, and provides inspection services for construction work in City streets. Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is the not-for-profit municipal electric utility owned and operated by the City of Santa Clara. Please contact SVP if you have questions about any of our services and programs, including SVP Fiber Enterprise (dark fiber services) or are currently working with SVP staff on your development projects. The SVP customer development staff which supports housing and other development will be working remotely using VPN access and have the ability to participate on web based teleconferencing services such as WebEx and Zoom. SVP will continue to support pdf submittals. Customers should contact SVP via email for more information on our development services and programs. |

About the Permit Center
The Permit Center is located in City Hall, 1500 Warburton Ave., Santa Clara. The Center was designed with a vision of customer service, focused in a single location, combined with highly trained employees, advanced technology, and a constantly improving review and approval process. Santa Clara serves a broad range of customers in the permitting process, from homeowners and contractors with small additions, to developers and businesses with large and very complex projects. The Permit Center has been designed to serve all our customers with any size project and a variety of service needs.

The Permit Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is strongly recommended that you schedule an appointment for in-person services as walk in services might be limited and could increase wait times.
