Silicon Valley Power Honored with National Award for Outstanding Safety Practices: On May 2, 2023, Silicon Valley Power (SVP) was honored with the American Public Power Association’s Safety Award of Excellence for safe operating practices in 2022. SVP earned first place in the category for utilities with over 265,000 worker-hours of annual worker exposure.

Santa Clara County Public Safety Communications Manager Association Awards: The Santa Clara County Public Safety Communications Manager Association recently held its an annual awards ceremony to recognize the hard work and dedication of dispatchers from agencies throughout our county. The City of Santa Clara Receives Arbor Day Foundation’s Tree City Recognition: The benefits that trees bring to our urban environment are tremendous and the City of Santa Clara recognizes the importance of a robust and thriving urban forest. For its commitment to managing, expanding, and preserving our urban forest, the City of Santa Clara has been designated as a Tree City USA community for the 36th time by the Arbor Day Foundation. |

City of Santa Clara Public Works (DPW) Department Awarded American Public Works Association (APWA) Project of the Year Awards for Two Projects: The Laurelwood Stormwater Pump Station Rehabilitation Project consisted of demolition and construction of portions of the pump station structure and building, replacement of mechanical and electrical equipment, installing a new emergency generator and completing various site improvements. The Harris-Lass Museum Tank House Restoration & Porch Repair Project involved the design, restoration and repair of the tank house, summer kitchen, and exterior porch, and completing accessibility upgrades.

Serra Tanks Rehabilitation Project Receives an APWA 2023 Project of the Year Award: The three Serra water tanks provide a total storage volume of 13.2 Million Gallons of domestic potable water and are a vital part of the City’s water system. Notable improvements included improving operational efficiency with the addition of a new 12-inch water line with valves allowing for isolation of each tank, the abatement of lead-based paint, the installation of OSHA tie off points, seismic reinforcement rings, tank mixers, sampling taps, and flush type clean out manways.

City Receives MISAC Award for Excellence in Information Technology Practices: The City of Santa is a recipient of the 2023 MISAC Award for Excellence in Information Technology Practices. This is the 17th time the City of Santa Clara has won the Excellence Award. Nineteen agencies statewide received the award this year. The award signifies the city has met or exceeded MISAC standards in the technology focused areas of Budget and Strategic Planning, Purchasing, Operations and Staffing, Customer Satisfaction, Internet, Project Management, Professional Development and Training, Disaster Preparation and Recovery, Policies and Procedures, GIS and Security. The award is an acknowledgment of the City’s efforts in improving the quality of life and city services through technology and innovation.

Silicon Valley Power Recognized as Smart Energy Provider: Silicon Valley Power has once again earned a Smart Energy Provider (SEP) designation from the American Public Power Association for demonstrating a commitment to and proficiency in energy efficiency, distributed generation, and environmental initiatives that support the goal of providing safe, reliable, low-cost, and sustainable electric service.
