Hepatitis is a very common disease and it can affect people even if their immune systems are healthy. It can lead to serious scarring (cirrhosis) of the liver and liver failure, which can be fatal. Many cases of hepatitis aren’t treated because people either don’t feel sick at all or think they have the flu. According to the CDC, rates of liver cancer are rising and fewer than 13% of baby boomers have been tested for hepatitis C, the leading cause of liver cancer. Come by our Table Talk to learn about this silent epidemic. We’ll have information about the most common hepatitis symptoms and how to request testing from your primary care team if they haven’t already done a blood test.
